Has Salford University been Obliterated?
Well, as usual there has been no reply from Salford Uni about the e-mails that I sent the other day. Bloody typical! Why is nothing simple? I have to jump through hoops for everything. I've e-mailled again, in a friendly and chatty tone, but asking nicely for a response; if I don't get one, I'll start to get arsey. Tell you something for free though, you can bet your bottom dollar that if they contacted me, and I didn't respond within about 24 hours, they'd be going absoloutely mental at me. Hmph! Double standards all the time!
Anyway, I had a successful class. I managed to translate ad hoc and even corrected the crazy teacher's English. As she's Dutch-Brazillian, her English is good, but some things she says are totally wrong and words don't collate well with each other. Some of the people in the class were chatting to me again, which is nice, and they asked me to make sure that I question certain things that sound weird in English, so that it will benefit them. As she uses Brazillian Portuguese, her accent is a bit odd, but I can understand her. Apparently, some of the grammatical things that she writes are total madness too, with Brazillian spellings and accents (like "If we were rich" in European Portuguese is "Se fossemos ricos", but in Brazillian Portuguese, it has a random ^ accent on the o, being "Se fôssemos ricos" - the class argued this one for about ¼ of an hour...)
Anyway, I thought I did quite well, and the first class of the day. 9am for Technical Translation into English went well, and Wendy, the teacher is really nice and friendly, and gave me her mobile number, saying that if anything went wrong, and I needed some help, I could contact her.
We're going on a class trip to a language exhibition on Friday, so that should kick out o moribundo da minha vida! Yay!
Ben xxx
PS I'm putting some photos on later too, but I have to go to the post office to send something to Salford Uni, and to buy a pan that doesn't cement the chicken breast to the bottom of the pan, and thus require about 2 hours to scrub it off with a wire scourer! Tchao!
