Bloody Government!

Hey Blanchettes,

Hope you're all well! I've been sorting out stuff with Salford, and everything seems to be going well. I have had to apply for another Student council tax exemption certificate, as Salford City Council are being cocks and want more proof. Usually they just carry it over, but some trogledite in Swinton Civic Centre is moaning about it, so me, Matt and Mark are having to send in our certificates again, which is a pain in the arse, especially when I'm here in Lisbon. Nevermind, I think it's sorted out: Bridget Samuel's sorted it for me with the student office in Uni House.

On this topic though, I was saying to Mark when this was brought up a while back that I'm surprised that our so-called "socialist" government hasn't decided that students should pay council tax (not that we own the house or earn enough money to live), and lo and behold, look what I found today on BBC's website (click here).

So, it seems that the last thing that students have as some sort of benefit will be taken off us. For those of you who don't know, we have to pay tuition fees of up to £1,300, as well as everything else for general living, and now it seems that we will have to pay council tax soon enough, so that'll be another couple of hundred or so per person. What people seem to forget is that we HAVE NO MONEY! God, people think we're loaded or sommat.

And the nob-head tory MP who's mixing it all up, saying that cash-strapped OAPs are paying for students is a blatant way of getting a gourp of people who generally hate students anyway to motivate against us, when what should be happening is students help OAPs fight for OAPs to be exempt from council tax!

Plus said nob-head MP says that there is a shortfall of £1 million. Well perhaps if all the "blame claims" were tackled and people stopped suing the council for tripping on a frigging flagstones, councils wouldn't be in as much debt as they are at the moment.

Grr! Political rant over!
