¡Estoy Aburrido Cómo una Ostra!

Bored as sin I am today! It's so quiet for some reason. the fridges must be
working well for Mercadona!! Marián's not had to do many orders today, so,
subsequently, I've not had much to do. I've been trawling throught the
photos that are in Microsoft Office's ClipArt, and some aren't half bad!

That's how bored I've become.

#I just can't wait, for the weekend to begin!# as the song goes!

Don Benjamín <<<< That's what they call me in shops when I'm buying things
like a phone line, or my glasses. Makes me titter!

Paella Valenciana

Heather has sent me a “funny” about MicrosoftTM®©D.I.S.C.O.. I like the
paperclip menu at the bottom the best!!! That’s what it does to me all the
time!!

(Embedded image moved to file: pic27573.jpg)

Today is boring as fook! I’m sure I’ll have fun later on though! I’m
going to attempt to cook a Paella Valenciana for Mark. It’s gonna go
horribly wrong! Nieves has lent me a thing to put on the hob which is
like a big cooking ring. Apparently, it spreads the heat out more, so
your paella cook properly.

Paella Valenciana is different to the seafood version. Both originated in
the Valencian region, and El Port Restaurant in El Grau de Castellón
makes a really nice seafood verion, but I’ve never had their meat one as
they always run out. I’ve had one in Valencia. At Café Bombay, and that’s
really nice.

Nieves has given me the ingredients:

Chicken breast
Rabbit
Loin of Pork
Giant butter beans
Green beans, sliced
Onion
Garlic
Pulped tomato
Salt
Olive oil
Water
Chicken stock.

It’s well nice! I’ll take a photo of my creation when I’m done!

Today’s proper quiet. Not really doing much at the moment. Heather’s
going to Barcelona later on to see Tori, so I won’t see her now until
Tuesday! I hope she’ll be alright on the train; Tori got off at Orpresa
del Mar the other week and had to get an AMSA bus here!

¡Hasta ahora!

My god...

...I'm finding it hard not to burst into laughter today. This is like
watching a comedy play sometimes!!!!

¿Dónde está el papel?

Well, I've been here since 8:25am, and I've not done anything. Mark's on
his way, supposing that he's woken up on time. Knowing Mark in relation to
waking up, I know for a fact he has trouble waking up at the right time,
and usually runs around like a blue-arsed fly for ½ an hour getting himself
sorted. He should be here by 3pm, joy!! I'm meeting him at the train
station after work. He better have had a shave! Even though he isn't
ginger, he has ginger bits in his beard, and he looks like a drunken
Glasweigan who's has one too many Tennant's Supers for tea!!

I put a massive order onto AS400 last night, and I need to print it off,
but ye olde dot matix printer has run out of counterfoiled order paper, but
I can't find the paper for it. I asked Joana, who said it was in the
technical office, who have said it's near the photocopier. I suspect the
paper doesn't actually exist, and we'll need to start printing orders on
some sort of meat product, probably jamón serrano!

As I suspected, the AZKAR arguement is continuing, with Mercedes kicking
someone else's ass there. I love it!! Mercedes can't half hold herself well
in an arguement!! She will be my model for kicking off in Spanish! Like
Luke Skywalker learnt from Yoda, I shall learn from her! Not that I've ever
watched Star Wars, you understand. I like Star Trek Voyager with Captain
"ON SCREEN" Janeway - she's one you wouldn't wanna mess with!!! Mercedes
just called someone a stroppy cow in Spanish! I nearly wet myself!!!

"¡Eres una borde!" = You're a stroppy cow! <<<< Lesson of the day!

Well, gonna go back to doing some work! Not that I can print them!

Bye Blanche!

Boredom Strikes!!!!

Mark knows, and I'm sure a couple of my friends know, that I don't
particularly like "The Office". However, when they are all sat around
bored, doing random things, I'm now beginning to appreciate it a bit more.

All the staff are worn down, the boss is exactly like the boss in the
programme; I'm getting it a bit more now.

Meant to leave at 6pm, but I invariably leave late, as Nieves stays to
finish work. Nieves is the lady who gives me a lift to and from work as
there's no buses etc. and Frost-trol is on the Valencia-Barcelona Trunk
Road, a bit like the East Lancs! Well, yesterday we set off at 6:50, and I
got home at 7:20. As Heather's friend Tori says, "this place is ageing me".
I'll come back looking like a 100 year-old at this rate!!!

You Cheeky Monkey!!

Here're some ways of saying "You're cheeky" in Spanish (Marián taught me these):

¡Tiene mucha cara!
¡Qué moro!
¡Tiene mucha jeta!

I like the last one personally!!

All I want is my bed. Heather wants to sleep too!! She tells me she's knackered at work today!! She tried to drink some Actimel things today - she says the didn't go down to well. Eugh! I wouldn't ever entertain the idea - it's weird milky-yoghurty stuff. BLURGH!!!

Mercedes Kicks AZKAR Ass...

Mercedes is going to war with AZKAR. We sent a package by them to England, which takes 3 days. We sent it on 20th and it's still not got there. The woman told Mercedes the reason why it hadn't arrived was because "England is very far away" to which Mercedes responded, "So is Australia". I can feel this is gonna go on for a few days...

I can't help sniggering when people argue in Spanish - it's a sight to behold!!

¡TCHAU BELLOS!

Me duelen los ojos :·(

MY GOD! How hard is it to sleep sometimes? I was just managing to drop off when my phone rang. It was Mark telling me that some bastard had nicked his bike from outside work!

I can't believe it sometimes!! It was locked up and everything, so they'd come along with bolt cutters and chopped right through the lock. The gall of some people. I can never understand why people think that it is their God-given right to take everything that people own. Those people never achieve anything with their lives, and never earn anything themselves. They thieve, steal and mug for all their "purchases". What makes people think that they have the right to nick something? It's such a sad situation. In Salford, some degenerates say *adopting Scally Salford accent* "orrrrrr,ee-yah, am gonna tax your bike", or such like. What is the menaing of "tax" in this sentence? Sure a tax is a payment incurred from when you need to pay someone for doing a service for you? "Well, thank you that's a brilliant service. I don't mind using my bike to pay the scally tax, so that our local drug dealers don't fall destitute."

Nobs.

I hate thieving scally bastards.

Avenida Casalduch (I live on the left, you can't see my street though) Posted by Picasa

Start of Blog!

Well, I thought I'd best start my blog off! It's me, Ben (the one at the left)! This is a piccy of me, Heather (another Salford student) and Kim (also from Salford Uni, visiting from Elda).

This'll be the place for my random wafflings and what not whilst I'm here in sunny Spain/Portugal for my student placement year! I go to Salford University, Manchester. I'm putting this in the hope of someone other than my mates will read this, but I doubt it's gonna happen!!

I work at Frost-trol which makes fridges for supermarkets. I sit at my PC all day in input data into the computer system, which is ok, better than doing nothing!!

Spain's such a random country! You need an ID card to do anything, but I use my driving licence and pretend it's a British ID card - They're none the wiser!!!

Been and bought some new sunglasses today. Well, I bought them on Saturday, I went and picked them up today, and they were well expensive!! The frames were only €73, but the lenses (because I'm blind as a bat!!) brought the total cost up to €299!!! I need them though; I tried life without them , and it hurts in the sunlight!

There's a gypsy lady that goes rooting through the collective bins we have in the street here. I can smell her 4 floors up! Mind you, I suppose she must do it for a reason!!!

Speaking of which, there was a big arguement in the street on Saturday, and someone sprayed pepper spray. Even four floors up in our retro-pre-franco decorated flat we got a whiff of it and it wrecked our eyes and noses!!!

Anyway, off to bed now, knackered as fook!!!
